Hey mates,
Jackie Sparrow here tellin' ye how thee Pirate Camp went today. Mighty
fine group of youngin's. 32 strong, mostly boys. We had a grand time
indeed with them! Rosabella read "Sheep on a Pirate Ship" to
them; even had a cute sheep she made as a prop. Also made them pirate
hats!! What a cute story! Capt'n Pete read them "A Pirate's
Life" and gave them pirate face masks to wear while he read them
the story. They loved it. Then I read "Do Pirates Take
Baths". I would ask them questions while reading and the
responses from them were awesome. We had a little sword fight and some
show and tell about barnacles. I also brought "Barnacle
Bart" the hand puppet with me. He was a surprise. Then I showed
them me treasure chest filled with gems and coins. Oh the wide eyes
were all focused on the booty!!! Gave them booty and also a pirate bag
filled with goodies, compass, tattoo, candy, and a treasure map game.
They went wild with excitement!!! Their teacher was the best. We
certainly appreciated the invite to entertain the younin's. I took
many pics and Black Roger has posted them below!
Many thanks to the YMCA
for havin' us. Tons of thanks to Rosabella & Capt'n Pete for
taking time to help with this event. They were the best!!! Many
treasured memories we be havin'!
We went to the Kirby
Grill afterwards and then walked downtown. We were stopped by many
people for pics and good conversation. We told them about the Pirate
Festival coming in August. Get ready PIRATES, there will be tons of
people for this event. Grand Haven be a big tourist town!! It be
a grand time indeed comin!! |
